Long ago, two races ruled over the earth. Humans and Monsters. The Humans feared the Monsters. For if any Monster managed to take a Human life and took their SOUL, the monster would be an unstoppable force of nature. A war broke out of this fears, and the Human's came out victorious for the Monsters could not match their strength.

With their victory they sealed the remaining Monster's unground with a magic spell. A barrier, where anything could go in... but nothing could come back out.

Legends say, that if anyone was to climb Mt. Ebott, in which the Monsters were sealed... they would never return.

______________________________________________

It was just a legend, a rumour, something that scared little children away from going too close to the mountain. But only a few people remained that remembered the war. Frisk tried not to look too engrossed in the tale. All the other little children had fallen asleep, but the girl laid, wide awake. What would it be like to meet a monster? Would they be mean, nice? Curiosity burned like a hot fire in her, and a sensation filled her. Another sense; determination.

Just a quick look to see if the rumours were true...
...besides, she would just go up the mountain and be back before anyone noticed.

It didn't take her long to reach Mount Ebott, her shaking knees almost didn't even get her to the base of the mountain before the rain that pelted down on her got her running. Quickly covering her head, she dove into a cave, heaving. Glancing outside, it looked like it was going to be raining for a while. She turned around, before almost falling backwards.

Right in front of her, stood a enormous hole.

This, had to be what the Legends were talking about. The reason why anyone who climbed Mt. Ebott would never return. She trembled at the sight, but something drove her forward. Determination. Her curiosity burned inside of her as she moved closer to get a better look. Maybe she could see a monster at the bottom. Yet her foot caught one of the vines that coiled on the ground, the edge of the hole coming closer and closer.

Rushing wind filled her ears, her failing limbs sprawled out in front of her. Her scream caught in her throat as the ground came close before —

-Thunk!-

She was lucky, so lucky that a patch of Golden Flowers had been growing in a perfect spot to break her fall. She feared that she had accidentally crushed them, but upon inspection they looked perfectly fine. She slowly moved onto her back, gazing upwards towards where she stood just a few seconds ago.

Panic slowly set in... she was in the underground! The place where no one from the surface ever returns! How was she ever going to get back home?! Her eye's decided to take in her surroundings, pillar's towered over her, leaving her in awe in how far she had fallen down. Again, grateful for the bed of flowers.

-Ehehehe-

A small chuckle echoed deeper into the cavern. It was high pitched, but left chills down Frisk's spine. Something told her to go towards the source of the laughter, but the other told her to run away... try to climb up the hole. But she knew it was useless... she would have to find another way out of the Underground back to the Surface.

-Ahahahaha-

Building up her courage and determination, she moved forward, seeing a doorway that led to a dark room. A beam of light shone down to the middle of the room where a single lone golden flower stood. It looked like the one's that broke her fall, except it held one smiling face as it smile stretched into a wide spread grin when it saw the small human child slip into the room. Their euphoric smile caused more shivers to run down Frisk's arms, but the girl took a step forward. Was this a monster? It didn't look scary.

"Who... are you?" Frisk tried her best not to be too timid.

The Flower just continued to chuckle, as if it knew of joke that it was sure the Human Child would never get. With a grin it turned to the human. It's mouth opened to speak —

"Well Howdy! I'm Flowey, Flowey the Flower! Heh... How come you asked Me to introduce myself? Kinda rude to act like you don't know who I am—"

Strange... this was the first time she had ever been in the underground... there was no way she would know this flower.

"Someone ought to teach you some proper manners. I guess little 'ol me will have to do."

It sounded a little strained, like it would rather be doing something else then taking care of a Human Child. But the smile that it held when Frisk entered the room never left it's face. Like it knew something that Frisk didn't and that it would be hilariously funny in the end.

                "Ready? Here we go!"

Before Frisk could do anything, she felt something inside of her burning bright. She glanced down before her eyes widened. Sitting in the middle of her chest was a glowing red heart. It didn't beat like a normal heart would, but just floated out from her chest. She forced her face not to look surprised, but it caught her off guard.

"See that heart? That's your soul! The very culimation of your being. It's starts out weak, but it can grow stronger if you get lots of LV."

                "L...V?"

"Yeah, it stands for LOVE. You want some LOVE don'tcha? Don't worry, I'll share some with you."

Strange white pellet's came out of the strange flower as he winked towards Frisk. His smile grew a little bit, but he tried to hide his excitement as he showed Frisk his power. Something told her that something was wrong. She didn't want whatever those strange white pellets were.

"Down here, LOVE is shared through... little... friendly-ness pellets."

A soft snicker left his mouth. Even more of a reason for Frisk to run. But her feet was planted to the ground. She couldn't move. Whether it was the fear that paralyzed her legs... or whether an outside force held her still. Making sure that she didn't run. It almost felt like vines were holding onto her feet.

"Alright, try to catch as many as you can~"

His voice was not comforting as the pellets flew towards her soul, she couldn't move out of the way as the came crashing into her soul. Causing her to yelp as she fell to the ground, weakened as she noticed her soul was fading slightly. Her eyes blinked as she saw the flowers face had completely changed. A manic grin stretched across his cheeks. His voice, menacing... dark.

"You idiot... in this world, it's KILL or BE KILLED. Why would ANYONE pass up an opportunity like this?"

Her eyes darted around as the same pellets that had caused her so much pain surrounded her in a wide circle. Her wide eyes turned back to the flower as his face looked completely corrupt. Savouring the fear that was held in her eyes at the prospect that she was going to die. She wanted to close her eyes, pretend that this is just a dream... but his voice lingered in a soft whisper. But one that pierced her ears.

            "Die..."

His laughter echoed through the dark room. The circle of pellets moving in slowly. Savouring in panic as she waited for the pellets to hit her. His laughter was corrupt, much like the menacing laughter that lead her here in the first place. She didn't want to cry... but she couldn't help it. She took one more look at the flower, seeing his large grin as the pellets closed in on her. Only to stop dead before disappearing. A small flame appeared next to Flowey before knocking him away. She looked around in surprise...

...who had rescued her?

A tall, goat monster stepped into view. A scolding look on her face as the flower ducked into the ground and disappeared. A small sigh rested on her muzzle. Frisk couldn't help but look up at her in awe. Only did she finally notice she no longer felt any pain in her soul. In fact, it glowed a bright red.

Who was she?

"What a terrible creature, torturing a poor, innocent youth."

Her eye's glanced down at Frisk, seeing the child gently flinch away from her gaze. It would make sense for her to be scared... especially after all that Flowey had done. Corrupting her views of monsters. Poor child...

"Do not be afraid, I am Toriel caretaker of these ruins. I pass through here everyday to see if anyone has fallen down. I must say... you're the first human to have fallen down here in a long time... come... I'll guide you through."

With a soft and kind; "This way" Toriel turned and made her way through the door ahead of them. Leaving Frisk to stand there for a moment. She felt her heart pounding away at her chest before she darted after her. Not wanting to look back as she stayed close to Toriel.

The elder monster guided her through the ruins, which wasn't difficult as Toriel sometimes held her hand through the many traps and puzzles throughout the ruins. Frisk didn't want to fall behind, so she didn't object. She felt comfortable at having someone around. Maybe Toriel could show her a way back to the surface. It cheered Frisk up as they made it through the Ruins.

At first Toriel left her behind, leaving her a little bit panicked, but her determination kept her going through the ruins. Enjoying a pile of leave, crouching down to eye into a tiny hole to see if she could see the tiny mouse that lived it in. Getting frequent phone calls from Toriel from the phone she gave her to check up on her. To apologizing for the messy ruins, to asking what her preference was 'Cinnamon' or 'Butterscotch'. Until she reached a point with a ghost lying on the ground pretending to be asleep.

"Uh... hello? Why are you pretending to be asleep?"

She bent down to get a closer look at the ghost. He looked actually to be barely floating above the pile of leaves he was lying down on. Her soul suddenly glowed. Something she had gotten used to and got ready for the battle. Well... more or less her trying to avoid the projectiles that monsters would send her way... as she tries her best to befriend them. She wondered if this little ghost would be the same.

                "....oh no....."

His voice was barely above a whisper as it hovered itself in front of Frisk. Seeing his timidness, Frisk decided the best course of action would be encourage him. Giving him a soft encouraging smile as he blinked at her. Yet a small smile rested on his face in return.

                "heh....."

Yet it didn't stop the tears coming as they rained down on her. She moved from side to side to avoid them. But gave him another encouraging smile. He really was a cutie. He looked like he wanted to show her something. His tears, instead of falling down, went upwards as they formed a hat on their hat. Dabberblook, is what he called it. She snickered into her hand before smiling towards him.

                "Oh....gee..."

Frisk felt soul return back into her as she stepped away from the ghost. Smiling towards him she gave him a small tilt with her head. It sounds like the little ghost comes to the ruins a lot to get away. But this was the first time he had met someone nice to him.

        "What's your name?"

"nab...nabstalook... but it's not that special...."

Frisk smiled; "No, it's a very special name... I'm Frisk."

With a final soft laugh, he excused himself for being in her way before disappearing. Frisk almost felt bad that she sent him off like that. But decided to continue. Finishing up the ruins by helping the spiders with their bake sale, a rotating puzzle with different coloured switches. Finally coming up to a house as Toriel stepped outside. Calling Frisk's cell only to see that she was already standing there.

"Oh! There you are. I'm so sorry I left you for so long... I... well I guess I can't keep a secret for very long. Come inside."

With that Frisk followed her inside, taking in the environment of the quaint little home.

Here we are guys! Chapter 0, mostly because the Ruin's are seen as the introduction to the game. So I'm going to make them out as such. However the reason the chapter ends is that there's a little bit more stuff I want to explore in Toriel's home and I don't want to prolounge this chapter any further. So finishing up Chapter 1 will be the End of Toriel's home heading into Snowdin Forest.

I'm hoping that everyone has at least given a glance to my indroduction on how this narritive is going to be played out so that if you guys don't want to be spoiled you already know. Because I really don't want to put Spoiler warnings on every single Chapter. So this is your final warning. This narrative is very spoiler heavy. So go play the games if you don't want to be spoiled. It's only 6 hours so you can probably get it down in a couple of days. But remember to enjoy it!

Annnyways, :sigh:  It's not that I don't like the introduction... but the Ruins have always been my least favourite part of the game. Mostly because it's game mechanics. So a lot of stuff was skipped. I just didn't want to skip Nabstalook's battle, because I love that part :shuffelin: . But other then that... yes, I know I skipped a lot... but once we get outside the ruins. I'm going to be adding a lot of things. The next chapter will probably come out tomorrow or Wednesday. Depending on how much college work I need to do.

Hope you guys have a fantastic day!
